Shallot Balsamic Dressing

Salad dressing is one of those food staples that is so easy to make yourself.

If you have a good basic formula (like this one from Lifehacker), you can whip up your own salad dressing in a heartbeat. A simple dressing base needs oil, acid, and seasoning. Beyond that, you can add in flavors you like, such as garlic, ginger, mustard, jam, etc.

This shallot balsamic is one of my favorite dressings. It can be thrown together in a flash with a few pantry staples. It tastes great drizzled over salad or roasted vegetables, adding just the right level of acidity and seasoning. The shallots and garlic give it just the right amount of flavor and aroma that is tasty, but not overpowering.

Say farewell to store-bought bottles of preservative-heavy dressing, and create your own dressing instead.
